Staining

Sandpaper

After the 320 grit switch to 0000 steel wool (or similar artificial pad) and rub out the discontinue thoroughly. Once you have completed rubbing out with 0000 steel wool, vacuum the covering and buff with a clean, soft cotton rag.

Waxing

If you would like to raise the sheen up a bit and add an extra touch of smoothness and slickness to the surface, you can discontinue off with a paste wax. Dip a artificial pad into the wax and apply it to the covering in the direction of the wood grain. Allow the wax to dry and buff out with a clean, soft cotton rag. Repeat the wax application and buffing out a second time and you should have a very smooth, slick low luster finish.
