How to Clean a Pool Cue

How to Clean a Pool Cue

Pool cues often become sticky because of a build up of chalk and oil from our hands. If they are not cleaned regularly, they can become constantly damaged or warped. A clean cue is also important, as it helps promote a fluid stroke. There are some dissimilar ways to clean your cue stick. Find out which you prefer and make sure you clean your cue at least once every few weeks, more often if you play everyday.

Materials Needed:

Sandpaper

- Cleaning detergent (dish soap or orange oil diluted 5 to 1 with water)
- 1500 or 2000 grit sand paper
- Piece of Simonis cloth or cotton cloth

Cleaning Options:

Apply your chosen cleaning clarification to a cloth. Dampen the cloth but avoid getting too much liquid on the cue as that may cause warping. Clean the cue from the bottom to the ferrule. Then lightly sand the cue with 1500 or 2000 grit sandpaper. This will remove any excess chalk that may be left on the surface. Wipe down the cue again with the damp cloth and dry immediately.

You should clean your cue after every few sessions, depending on how long you play. There are a few ways to cut down on the number of chalk that gets on the pool cue. You can use a pool billiard glove. This keeps chalk off of your hands which is the main way that it is transmitted to the cue. You can also limit the number of chalk that gets on the shaft by how you hold the cue while applying the chalk. Hold the cue at a little angle, so that any chalk dust that falls does not get on the shaft. If you hold the pool vertically when applying chalk it rains down on the cue.

How to setup Styrofoam Crown Molding

How to setup Styrofoam Crown Molding

Crown molding is one of the most underestimated (and easy) home remodel projects you can undertake to growth the character of a room. Cove molding adds style and character to a room, and shows that belief has been taken to specifically make a home more aesthetically comfortable. They heighten a room by radiating light that would otherwise just die in a dark projection - brightening up the room as a whole. It also (sometimes subconsciously) increases the perceived comfort of a room by softening the sharp corners where the wall and ceiling intercept. It is vital to know the details of how to crown molding to have all pre-planned so that you can get the cornice molding installed as swiftly and painlessly as possible.

Material

Sandpaper

There are many different materials when selecting crown molding, each having it's own advantages and weaknesses. Wood crown trim is the most coarse and has been colse to for centuries. Unfortunately, it is hard to make uniform and tends to crack in the first year or two after being installed, requiring repairs. Plaster moldings are astonishing and installed on upper end homes, but are heavy and typically need a skilled trade man to install.

There is a new molding technology out there that uses expanded polystyrene (Eps/Styrofoam) - coated with a combination plaster of Paris / drywall compound. Coated Styrofoam cornices are more bendable than wood, and simpler to join and make seamless - so you do not need to touch them up after a year or two. These Styrofoam crown moldings give the look of precious plaster cornices, but at a small quantum of the weight. Because of the light weight, they are far easier to setup than either - using only drywall compound, you can press them into place and leave them. They will be the focus of this article.

Preparing

You want to ensure you do not have any urgent occasions planned colse to this renovation. Most (more often, all in my experience) projects end up taking 50-100% longer to desist than the home owner is forecasting. Installing Styrofoam crown molding colse to the room is no exception. To organize how much crown molding is needed, quantum the length of the walls where the Styrofoam crown molding will be located - from projection to corner. There are 2 ways of knowing the number of pieces of molding will be required - the first is to add 10% to the total number (e.g. 12' x 15' x 12' x 15' = 54' + 10% = 59.4' = 60')... And the second is to divide each wall by the length of each molding piece (e.g. For 8-foot molding lengths: 12' / 8' = 1.5 pieces, which you would round to 2, & 15' / 8' = 1.8 pieces which you would round to 2, therefore 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8 [8' pieces]). The second formula is guaranteed to ensure you have sufficient and do not risk running short, but as you can see - with either case, you are purchasing 8 pieces (for this example).

You want to be positive that you have a dry, ventilated room to store your molding.

Being positive that you have the right tools will make the whole process far simpler as well. Make sure you have:

1. Dirt/Grease Free Towel (to clean walls)

2. Drywall combination and putty knife

3. Miter box + Saw (so that you can cut the right angle, smoothly)

4. Step ladder (high sufficient so you can honestly reach the ceiling)

How To Cut Styrofoam Crown Molding

Always corollary good protection procedures - use gloves to deal with materials, protective eye wear when dust can get into your eyes, and a respirator mask when sanding and patching. Ensure you wear some "vintage" clothes that you do not mind bring dirty.

Always move furniture away from the walls and shield them, so that you have clear access to your working area and your furniture does not come to be messy. Clean the projection of your ceiling and wall where the Styrofoam cornice will be located from loose particles by wiping it with a moist cloth, and allow it to dry before installing the cornice.

I hear (and say) this so often that it is fully cliche - but it must be said - "Measure twice, cut once"! This applies to Styrofoam cornices without exception! On the day you are installing crown molding, make sure to quantum all again. This will keep you from destroying a piece of trim because you cut it incorrectly.

It's best to start your Styrofoam crown molding facility behind the entry to the room, so that the most graphic quantum is positive to have the fewest number of touch-ups. When you get to a corner, you will need to use your miter box to cut the molding at a 45 degree angle. To use the miter box, assure that the ceiling edge of the crown molding is along the lowest of the box, and the wall edge of the molding is along the side of the box opposite from you (so that, it is upside-down). Put the two ends of the pieces into the projection prior to adhering in place to ensure a allowable fit.

No projection is ever 90 degrees unfortunately, and you will have to play with sandpaper or fill with drywall combination to join the two pieces together properly.

How To setup Crown Molding

Using your drywall compound, apply a generous number to the molding along the ceiling and wall palpate sides. Determined move into place with the molding and press the cornice against the ceiling and wall simultaneously. Drywall combination will ooze out a little - use your cloth to wipe it clean. At this point, the drywall combination should be able to hold the Styrofoam crown molding on it's own, and you can let go. If you want extra protection to ensure the molding stays in place, you can use a small nail at 1-foot from each end, as these penetrations can be honestly filled using the drywall combination when removed while the touch up stage. Apply drywall combination to the ends of moldings before butting them up against one another, cleaning the drywall combination as it squeezes out when pressed together. Leave the trim in place to cure for 24 hours.

After 24 hours, you can re-finish the Styrofoam crown molding using drywall compound, and plane out any bumps using a fine-grit sandpaper. Because molding looks different depending on lighting (natural -vs- interior lights) you may want to return to the room a few times while the touch-up day to see all the different light settings you will be using.

Finished!

Move all your furniture back into place, then make a frappuccino (or martini) and sit back and enjoy the enhanced mood of your room!

How to Make Your Own Wind Chime and Have Music in Your Yard

How to Make Your Own Wind Chime and Have Music in Your Yard

One of my most loved and prized organery accessories is a wind chime that I bought at a craft festival over 25 years ago. It has followed me to three different homes, adding its musical notes to the yard's ambiance every time the air stirs. Made with copper plumber's pipe and small pieces of smoked acrylic, it hangs near my front door and plays a musical hello to all visitors.

It is easy to make your own great sounding wind chimes at a fraction of the cost. Although literally fine chimes, mine included, are designed to play chords, even untuned wind chimes sound great. The pitch or note of each pipe is determined by its distance and diameter. Longer pipes have a lower pitch, as do pipes with larger diameters.

Sandpaper

By using easy tools and off-the-shelf hardware, you can assemble a wind chime of your own in three to four hours. You will need an 8 foot piece of copper pipe, a roll of nylon string and a piece of quarter inch plywood or acrylic sheeting. For tools, you will wish a drill and bits, a pipe cutter, a small file, sandpaper, a jigsaw, scissors 5 small eye hooks and a pair of pliers.

First cut the pipe into 6 lengths, from 10 to 16 inches long, each an inch longer than the previous one. Drill a hole through each pipe, piercing both sides and about an inch from one end. Smooth off any burrs from the drilling and cutting with the file and sandpaper. Make sure you get rid of burrs inside the pipe as well, or your strings will be cut. Now sand the pipes to get rid of any printing and to burnish the copper.

Cut two circles, one 4 inches in diameter and one 3 inches in diameter from the wood or acrylic. Also cut a sail to hang below to catch the wind. It can be any shape you choose, as long as it has a flat wide surface. Sand any rough edges, and colse to the 4 inch circle and drill 6 evenly spaced holes near the edge for attaching the chimes. Mark centers of each circle and insert an eye hook in each, on both sides. Also put an eye hook in the town of the top of the sail.

Cut 6 pieces of nylon string, each 24 inches long and knot them securely to the 6 pipes. Insert the strings through the holes in the large circle, and tie them securely so the pipes hang from it, in order of size and 10 inches below. Now string the smaller circle (the clacker) and the sail together, about 15 inches apart. Attach these to the large sustain circle with an additional one distance of string, so that the clacker is situated between the 6 pipes, about 4 inches below the top of them and the sail hangs freely where it can catch the air currents.

Using the upper eyelet on the large circle, hang your chime and kick back and enjoy its soothing music!

recovery the Rusty Cast Iron Cookware

recovery the Rusty Cast Iron Cookware

Cast iron is one of the best cookware you can own, but it requires allowable care. If you have found your cast iron turned to rust in the cupboard, do not throw it away. Instead, restore it to good as new condition. The steps are quick and easy.

Most cast iron that has rusted just needs to have a good cleaning in a sink of nice soapy water. The quickest way to clean the pan of rust is using steel wool. It is fine adequate to get most of the rust out of the cast iron pores. Once you have scrubbed the rust away, rinse the pan and immediately dry it. The pan is now ready for seasoning before usage.

Sandpaper

Should you have a cast iron pan that has turned to thick rust; you will need to use sand paper to take off it. A fine grade of sandpaper should work. After taking off the bulk of the rust, wash the pan in hot soapy water. Once again, use the steel wool as the final scrubbing method. Rinse the pan, dry it and season well.

Seasoning is as simple as placing the pan in the oven. Turn the heat to 400 degrees and wait for the pan to reach that temperature. Turn the oven off and take off the pan. Cast iron breathes and this step will open the pores. Once it is cool adequate to handle, take a cotton fabric and very lightly coat the pan with oil or lard. Place the pan back in the oven. Set the climatic characteristic to 400 degrees. Once it reaches that temperature, turn the oven off and walk away. The pan should cool inside the oven gradually so the seasoning locks into the pores of the pan.

Your cast iron will continue to be one of your best pieces of cookware for years to come if you keep it dry and rust free. When storing your pans you should store them without covers and with a paper towel in each pan.

learning The Basics of Bathtub Refinishing

learning The Basics of Bathtub Refinishing

Bathing is a very pleasurable experience that relaxes the whole body giving a man a chance to rest and cleanse him or herself at the same time. Slipping into a hot bath (bubbles optional) for a period of time allows one to just close their eyes, relax, and just have a quiet time by himself or herself (bathing partner elective again). However, the way your bathtub looks can add to the enjoyment and fun in your bathing experience.

Giving your bath tub a dissimilar look doesn't mean that you should buy a brand new one. Buying a new one can be very expensive. So, with a diminutive imagination and by following these uncomplicated steps, you can refinish your bathtub, give it that brand new look and have a more pleasurable experience bathing in your new bathtub.

Sandpaper

When refinishing your bath-tub, you may want to reconsider your protection first before any other thing. Firstly, you need to make sure that your work area is well ventilated because refinishing your bathtub will involve the use of several kinds of chemicals. Make a checklist of protection materials you need before you go on and start refinishing your bathtub.

Protect yourself from chemicals that can be harmful to you by wearing protection goggles and gloves and also safe yourself from fumes by using a ventilator. Once you have all the important protection equipments, get all your supplies and start refinishing your bathtub.

The first thing you have to do in refinishing your bathtub once you have all protection equipments on is giving your bathtub a cursory cleaning and removing of any loose caulking or gaskets.

You can buy bath tub refinishing kits in your local hardware store which will ordinarily consist of several chemicals. You will consideration that at least one or two of the chemicals are cleaning solutions that will relatively put in order your bathtub for refinishing. These chemicals will take off soaps and oils from the surface of the bathtub. It will also want you to scrub your bathtub with sandpaper, ordinarily with a 220 or 240 grit. The next step is to rinse away any residue caused by sandpaper scrubbing.

Once you have cleaned the bath, the next step is to apply the primer. However, before you apply the primer, you should first mask the areas you don't want to refinish. You can do this with a masking tape and paper. Make sure you cover the areas you don't want to refinish.

Applying the base coat for your bath tub is the next step for refinishing your bathtub. All the time remember to wear protection gears, like a respirator, a pair of gloves and goggles to ensure no harm comes to your body. After you applied the base coat, let it fully dry first before applying the topcoat.

The top coat is the color you want your bathtub to have. It can be anyone you want. When mixing the top coat for your bathtub, effect the manufacturer's education for maximum quality. Rubbing Scratches Out of Your Glass Watches?

Rubbing Scratches Out of Your Glass Watches?

It is a nuisance or a headache to have a scratch on your beloved time-piece. It is a distraction and also a constant reminder to you that your precious watch needs attention. This makes you feel guilty. But don't lose hope, as the plastic screens ready in the store today are easier to restore. Your watch will look its very best if you change the glass and polish it meticulously.

Start the cleaning process by pushing from the inside. It is easy but care should be taken while doing it as a microscopic pressure could damage your precious timepiece. Tools like the Dremels tend to apply pressure and they build heat at a very short interval of time which results in cracks which are difficult to repair. If you are unsure or a microscopic hesitant to remove the outer crystal; just dab a microscopic Vaseline or grease to polish the outer surface. The extra Vaseline can be removed or erased by using a microscopic rubbing alcohol.

Sandpaper

Another polishing process you can try is- Take a 600 grit sandpaper and sand at a 90 degree angle perpendicular to the direction of the scratch. By doing this you try to blend out the scratch. In case the screen is flat, try to sand the whole flat screen on a similar face a bit aggressively. This will also bring a glow and shine on the face of your watch.

Most watchmakers prefer 1200-2000 grit sandpaper to be used as in the above mentioned process. This sandpaper is super fine and they can be obtained at auto parts store because the auto paint close coats are ordinarily acrylic plastic which are similar to the material found in our watches. A microscopic water can be used to moisten the papers, as these materials are ordinarily waterproof. These sheets can be reused. Displex, Novus and Janvil are beloved brand names. You don't have to use these common grades if you have already sanded with 1000 grit sand paper.

If you have not used sandpapers, then you can use a soft cotton cloth, an old bed sheet, high capability sanding papers, or an old pair of cotton jeans comes in handy. Damp your cloth a bit and use ¼ spoon of fine grade polish powder on the cloth. Use your thumb while polishing. Start rubbing the crystal in a circular motion. Be sure to clean and rinse before using a distinct grade of sandpaper as even a single grain can ruin your precious watch. To get a absorbing shine, use a polyester or any other synthetic cloth, spray Armour-All (It is a finishing spray that will bring back the glitter and shine on you watch. Again use your thumb in circular frame of eight like motions.

Once you fit back the glass crystal don't forget to clean the rim. There your microscopic precious timepiece is ready to adorn your hand.

How to mend a Scratch on Your Car - Paint mend and Auto Spray Painting

Car scratches at last appear in a way of almost every car owner. There are many methods of dealing with them however painting it over with an auto spray gives the best result. If you have adequate taste you will be able to paint over even a big scratch but a beginner also can carry on to heal imperfections on his vehicle. Here are the steps to follow:

First, it is valuable to clean metal from dirt and rust. Dirt is removed by washing the panel with soapy water. When dry, sand out the scratch and surrounding area with sandpaper. Then you need to apply putty on a surface. It should consist of two components (with a hardener). Do not select epoxy putty otherwise, it will dry for 24 hours. Use rubber or thin metal pallet for alignment.

Sandpaper

It will take 20 minutes to dry up with a temperature of 200C (392F). At this stage, you may also use auto filler primer that is specially designed to fill scratches and imperfections and perfectly replaces putty. It can be found in auto stores but if you are after allocation heal - putty will work just fine.

Next step, condition the outside with sandpaper of distinct calibers beginning with sharp and then provocative to a fine one. The panel should be ideally level to the touch. To make it this way use ultrafine 2000-3000 grit sandpaper and running water.

Now it is time to apply a primer. When primer layer is dry, you can start painting. To make sure the colour will match your car, enamel should be selected under estimate specified in the assistance book of the car. If you will paint your car in garage, take care that dust and moisture in it would be as diminutive as potential otherwise fine motes will undoubtedly get on a fresh paint.

Use masking tape and thick paper to cover parts that are not going to be painted. Make some light applications of a spray paint on a surface. Paint is put in two layers. First - thin, second - thicker. Time interval before applying second layer is 6 to 8 minutes. Median time of drying is about 2 hours, and full fixing of paint takes 24 hours.

When paint is dry, you can remove paper and masking tape. If you notice some imperfections such as drips or rough edges, you can fix it using ultrafine sandpaper. When done apply a top coat over the painted outside and let it dry. There is no scratch anymore!

Learn How to remove Egg Stains From Car Paint - Car Paint repair

Learn How to remove Egg Stains From Car Paint - Car Paint repair

Vandalism of asset is a high-priced effort not only for the recipient in damage repairs but also for the one being so destructive when they land in jail. Throwing eggs at cars may seem like a mild prank. In fact, though it is not mild as it leaves stains on some car paint finishes. If there is a great deal of staining it could mean having to the have, the car repainted. Now that mild prank has turned into hundreds of dollars worth of damage.

There are some individuals that have said that Vaseline oppressive Care Lotion rubbed into the egg stain and left for five minutes then removed works well. I haven't seen this in performance so it's hard to say how valid it is.

Sandpaper

There are two solutions you may want to try before taking it to the auto mend shop.

Method One:

Step One
Most often what happens is if the egg happens to hit the car the wrong way if will chip the paint. So first, you need to correlate the damage very carefully. If the paint is not chipped you can try this method, otherwise you need to go to method 2.

Step Two
Purchase some very high grit sandpaper and soak a strip of it in water overnight. The paper must be saturated with water.

Step Three
Sand very lightly the stained area with the sandpaper you had soaking in water overnight. Do not apply too much pressure and make sure you keep the sandpaper wet.

Step Four
Rinse the area well and dry it. You now need to use a rotary polisher. This should remove any marks that the sanding may have made. The technique you have utilized here is a plane assistance that has had a clear coat melted into it.

Step Five
Now you are going to want to eliminate the swirl marks and you do this by applying a pure polish and buffing it in.

If the egg stain mark is not gone then you will have to resort to step two.

Method Two:
Fold an extra strength paper towel into a square and place it over the egg stain. Then spray the paper towel with brake cleaner being sure to keep it confined to the area of the stain. The brake fluid may removed some of the car paint so be in effect sure not to get it everywhere except on the stain itself.

If the car is badly chipped you will need to sand it down, and then touch it up with some car paint.

Removing permanent stains from cars can be very difficult. In order not to end up having to do a full paint job you would be much added ahead to take it into a paint mend shop and have it expertly done. All too often do it yourselfers have ended up costing themselves a great deal of money mental they could mend a question themselves.

Ideally if there is vandalism in your area you would be wise to keep your car in a protection location if possible.

Metric Cabinet Hardware

Metric Cabinet Hardware

Are you tired of how your old cabinets look? Instead of hiring an interior designer, why not take a trip to the hardware store and look for the things you need to make the changes? You can start by buying some cans of paint, paintbrushes and rollers, pans, a few bottles of thinner, sandpaper, hinges and some cabinet hardware. Of course, you'll need proper tools like screwdrivers and maybe a drill if you plan to make some new holes in the wall.

But before you take a trip to the hardware store, make a few observations and plan ahead. Make sure that you know what you want to do and what kind of hardware you need. You can choose in the middle of a knob, which is something you use with one screw to mount as a handle of your cabinet, or a pull, for which you need two screws. You might want to take into notice the originate and the finishing of the hardware as well. You can choose from steel, brass, wooden, nickel, and many other kinds of finishing.

Sandpaper

Make sure you think all the hardware you will need. You don't want to go all the way back to the hardware store just because you missed one screw or one knob, would you? an additional one aspect that is very prominent is taking the exact measurements of the hardware that you need. Admittedly you want the hardware you bought to fit in the existing hole of the cabinet. Though you may be prepared to drill a new hole just to adapt your hardware, knowing the diameter and the depth of the existing hole and using it as a reference for the hardware you intend to buy will save you a lot of time and hardship in the end.

Chemical Free Home - Mild polisher Cleaning With Sandpaper

Chemical Free Home - Mild polisher Cleaning With Sandpaper

It sounds harsh and destructive but cleaning some things around the home with a mild grinder sandpaper is a good way to bring new life to old or stained objects. The harshness of the clean is dinky only by the coarseness of the sandpaper. Any method of cleaning that does not use chemicals is always worth a try. One word of caution - The grinder on sandpaper is held on with varied types of glue. Avoid using on surfaces that will be used for cooking and ensure all surfaces are fully washed that will be in caress with food.

I use wet and dry sandpaper also referred to as Emery Paper or Emery Cloth which is ordinarily used in the automotive industry. It is ideal for cleaning many metal items around the home. The grit of the paper should be 400+ which will cause less damage to the exterior of the items being cleaned. It is prominent to remember that Emery Paper can be used wet, Emery Cloth can not be used wet and is not recommended for mild grinder cleaning.

Sandpaper

In The Kitchen

Stainless steel cookware - especially baking dishes and frying pans receive brown staining over time which is almost impossible to clean without harsh and toxic cleaners. A light rub with wet 400 grit sandpaper will take off the stains and bring the cookware back to its natural state. Only use this method on the exterior (non cooking side) of cookware. There may be some light scratches in the exterior from the sandpaper but these will generally be less unsightly than the stains the sandpaper removed.

Stainless steel kitchen sinks and drainers can also be restored to new life with a mild clean using 400 wet sandpaper. Be sure to rub the paper in a particular direction to avoid scratches.

Be sure the exterior you are cleaning is stainless steel. I would not propose this on any other type of material in the kitchen.

Aluminium Window Frames

Unpainted (silver) aluminium windows can be given new life by gently rubbing any corrosion and stains off with sandpaper. Again, I would only use it wet and avoid caress with any painted or stained timber sills. The inside tracks can also be cleaned this way. always wipe the exterior with a wet cloth after cleaning to take off any residue.

Garden and Shed Tools

Once or twice a year garden tools such as spades, shovels, hoes, rakes and similar tools (including hand tools) can be cleaned with sandpaper before putting away for out of season storage. After cleaning it is recommended to rub a coating of oil over the exterior of the metal to protect it from rust. Alternatives contain spraying with a lubricant or similar water repelling and sealing compound. Painting is not recommended as rust can construct under the coating of the paint if it is not fully dry.

Generally, cleaning things around the home with sandpaper can help rejuvenate old and worn out (unpainted) stainless steel, aluminium and metal. When cleaning indoor items always test a small section or alternatively test on an older item made from a similar material before doing the real thing.

popular Types of Tattoo removal

popular Types of Tattoo removal

Tattoo's have come to be more and more socially appropriate and positively even a status emblem in today's society. But as this fad goes on it is sure to happen that more and more citizen will one day realize that they might have made a bit of a mistake and feel the need to undo what was supposed to be constantly on their skin.

Laser tattoo removal is probably the most well known and most painful way to take off a tattoo. Lasers are shot at the skin burning threw the first 3 layers of skin to positively break up the pigment that has been settled in the skin via the needle. The issue is that the Laser burns the first 3 layers of skin while working, so this can be very painful for a man and end in scaring and pain until it heals.

Sandpaper

One of the old myths is that you can use vinegar and very light sandpaper to take off a tattoo. First use the soft sandpaper on the area that is tattooed rubbing it moderately until the color is most vibrant, then soak it in the vinegar for an hour. You repeat this 3-4 times for nearby 20 minutes, daily for about a month. Finally the vinegar will start to fade the tattoo. We can tell you know that this does Not work and is nothing more then a myth. It is impossible for the very very very light number of acid in the vinegar to drill down to the layer of skin which holds the ink. So please do not waste your time or vinegar on attempting this.

A more painful way and non antiseptic way to take off a tattoo is simply using a belt sander. This does work, but is not recommended. You could end up constantly burning yourself with the belt sander and and up doing more damage then good. This is seriously not recommended and might have been talked about in movies before but seriously should not even be thought about as a way of removing a tattoo.

Balms are now becoming more favorite and have had some great success with helping to fade a tattoo to the point where only the man who originally got the tattoo or gave the tattoo would know where the tattoo was located. Dr. Tat Off makes a balm that gets great reviews for citizen who use it. Personally I have never experimented with it or heard of it doing any good for anyone who has. The main painless tattoo removal factor is called wrecking balm.

Wrecking balm was developed by a group of Doctors and Dermatologists in New England has has received national attention when it was first spoken about on a paramount radio show, the Howard Stern show. Since then wrecking balm started to sponsor the show. If you are serious about tattoo removal we would advise trying this out. It has worked wonders for the citizen who have used it and continues to do so. Its also painless unlike laser tattoo removal.

Toilet Cleaning

Toilet Cleaning

Now I'm a pretty neat and clean person, but over the last few weeks something has been beginning to bug me... My loo, my toilet, my lavatory bowl. It has brown marks on it. I don't like brown marks on the bowl of my toilet.

Cleaning my toilet is my mission this week - so I'm going to do a petite experiment and pass my findings onto you.

Sandpaper

Here's what I'm going to try:

Bleach
Vinegar
Pumice stone
Toilet duck
Sandpaper
Baking soda
Denture cleaning tablets
And the surprise late entry - citric acid

Everyone swears by bleach, don't they? I concept I'd go, first, with bleach overnight. It hasn't really worked all that well in the past, but I wonder if it's because I don't leave it long enough.

The Bleach Result

Well, it all smells clean, but the brown stains are still there after 12 hours of sitting. So bleach is a no-go.

Pumice Stone

I read on a couple of websites that pumice would do the trick. My toilet bowl is an odd shape, which made pumicing it a petite difficult. I scrubbed away for about ten minutes. After the cloudy water had flushed away, I could see that some of the stains had gone, but because I can't get into the corners there is still heavy calcium build-up lingering. I've chucked some vinegar and lemon toilet duck down to give it a helping hand over night. We'll see what happens in the morning.

The Pumice and Vinegar with Lemon Toilet Duck Result

Ok, so it did get rid of a bit, but by no means all, of the brown stain and calcium build up.

Late Entry: Citric Acid

Not being very scientific, I've decided to try something not on my experiment list. Before leaving for work I decided I'd try what I use on my kettle: citric acid. Citric acid does a great job on my kettle and flasks, which get quite a heavy calcium build-up, so it stands to presume that it should also work on the toilet calcium build up.

Citric Acid Result

When I got back from work the bowl was clean of brown stains, but there was still that heavy build-up of calcium. The calcium seemed to have changed a petite in appearance though - almost like it would flake off if encouraged. Of all things, I grabbed an Ikea plastic knife and poked colse to a bit. Would you believe it? That calcium build-up floated happily away from the bowl.

The bowl is fully clean now. No build-up, no brown staining. I tell you what; I'm one happy lady now. Pass the word on - citric acid (descaler!) sorts out your loo.

How to accumulate a plane Hand Rubbed Satin conclude

How to accumulate a plane Hand Rubbed Satin conclude

Anyone who does any staining and varnishing desires to have a level , flawless finish. Most Diy'ers will stain the work and apply a join of coats of varnish or polyurethane and hope for the best. The real key to a pro discontinue is to buff out the discontinue after the final coat of varnish has dried sufficiently. While it is inherent to buff up a discontinue to a higher sheen , the easiest method for most wood finishers of varied skill levels is to buff down the discontinue to a "hand rubbed satin" finish.

Staining

Sandpaper

The two most tasteless types of stain for house millwork and wood trim are wiping stains and penetrating stains. Wiping stains are more very pigmented and offer more operate than penetrating stains which have better clarity and transparency.

Sealing

After staining I like to use a sealer such as Zinsser's Seal Coat which is de-waxed shellac. Seal Coat will not disturb an oil based stain or re-dissolve it. Seal Coat dries swiftly allowing for quick recoating with whether polyurethane or varnish.

Varnish

I like accepted oil based varnish which I think has better adhesion than most polyurethanes. I like to put on two or three coats of varnish, sanding between coats with 220 grit sandpaper to keep it smooth.

Rubbing Out the Finish

After the final coat of varnish has dried overnight, start out with a very light sanding with 320 grit sandpaper to knock off the bigger numbs. Sand in the direction of the wood grain. After the 320 grit switch to 0000 steel wool (or similar artificial pad) and rub out the discontinue thoroughly. Once you have completed rubbing out with 0000 steel wool, vacuum the covering and buff with a clean, soft cotton rag.

Waxing

If you would like to raise the sheen up a bit and add an extra touch of smoothness and slickness to the surface, you can discontinue off with a paste wax. Dip a artificial pad into the wax and apply it to the covering in the direction of the wood grain. Allow the wax to dry and buff out with a clean, soft cotton rag. Repeat the wax application and buffing out a second time and you should have a very smooth, slick low luster finish.
